NEW DELHI, November 22: Paramjit Sharma of BEG (Rorrkee), an Arjuna Awardee, who lifted 140kg in two snatch and 175kg in two clean and jerk with a total of 315kg, was declared the overall best weightlifter in the third Army weightlifting championships held at Roorkee from November 16 to 21.

BEG Roorkee also claimed the overall team position with a tally of 124 points, followed by Signals (113) and BEG Kirkee (83).

A total of 14 teams participated in the championships during which several Army and Services records were bettered. The notable among them being M Ranganathan (Signals, 62kg), Paramjit Sharma (BEG Roorkee, 85kg) and Gurcharan Singh (BEG Roorkee, 94kg).
