VADODARA, March 22: A fact-finding committee was instituted by M S University Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane on Monday to look into complaints of students of the Faculty of Performing Arts.

The three-member committee, which will be headed by dean of Faculty of Home Science, Anupama Shah, and have Deepak Kannal and Parul Dave Mukherjee of the Faculty of Fine Arts as its two members, will meet students, the staff and the non-teaching staff of the faculty before arriving at a conclusion.

Talking to Express Newsline one of the faculty students said, unlike in other faculties, here students’ results depended on the marks given for their performance and not on the theory papers marked by external faculty.

The student also alleged that earlier, practical examinations results of students of various departments of the faculty were tampered, which affected the students’ overall result.

Another faculty student alleged that students have to suffer because of internal differences within teachers. The student alleged that those students who were close to a particular teacher always scored good marks, irrespective of his/her performance. He said students were many times made a scapegoat because of the problems between teachers.

He said students had approached the V-C even earlier in the context.

When contacted, Kane stating that the students had represented their complaints on earlier occasions, added that the committee would submit their report within a week.
