VADODARA, OCT 18: The general board meeting of the Panchayat reconstituted all its eight committees here on Monday. The meeting lasted over two hours and witnessed noisy scenes on several occasions. The tenure of all committees had expired in recent past.

The meet also finalised rules for the Jila Utejan Nidhi to promote various development works at local levels and, in another resolution, decided to contribute Rs five lakh to the Chief Minister’s Fund for Kargil Martyrs.

The meeting, which began about a half hour behind schedule, was well-attended, with more than 40 of the total 45 members taking part. The agenda included several important issues including reconstitution of the committees.

Some opposition Congress member asked that their demands be met. Their demands comprised filling of the vacant posts of teachers, improving school buildings and completion of a couple of enquiries in different cases.

The Congress members asked vacancies of all 27 Sahayak Shikshak (teachers), whose appointments were cancelled in recently following a controversy, be filled up without further delay. Any delay will affect the students, they said. The opposition Congress members also demanded action against the irrigation department officials of the Panchayat who were responsible for theft of several important records about six months ago. They alleged that the officials were responsible for the theft of several land records of the last 15 years from their office.

Panchayat president Patel pacified the agitating members and assured that their demands will be given due appreciation. The elected members of the executive committee comprise: Ratibhai Patel, Ramsinh Rathwa, Jayesh Patel, Khumansinh Padhiar, Chandubhai Patel, Vijay Rathwa, Bhavna Patel, Daulat Tadavi and Narsinh Goswami. Panchayat memeber Vijay Rathwa was elected to the Social Justice Committee while Sharda Rathwa got responsibility of Irrigation Committee and Geeta Rathwa elected to the Woman and Child Development Committee of the Panchayat.

While P D Baria, Jayesh Patel, Parag Parmar, Narpat Tadavi and Pradeep Pandya were elected to Roads and Buildings Committee, Jaswantsinh Chauhan, Savita Shrivastava, Chandu Patel, Khumansinh Padhiar and Suman Solanki were elected to the Health Committee.

Likewise, Kalyan Patel, Ilaba Jadeja, Suman Solanki, Mukesh Tadavi and Jash Amin were elected to Appeal Committee, while Bhilsinh Rathwa, Parag Parmar, Udesinh Gohil, Madhu Raj and Pradeep Pandya elected to the 20-Point Programme Committee, an official spokesman said.
