Pakistan found the going easy against Bangladesh in an inconsequential Super League match in the Asia Cup tournament here today.

Star of the tournament Shoaib Malik won the man of the match award for his 48 runs and stingy one for 19 from 10 overs.

The highlight of Bangladesh’s batting effort was former captain, wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud’s defiant 54 — his career best — in a show of typical lower order resistance but Bangladesh could hardly stand up to the test of fiery fast bowling from the Pakistani pace quartet at the Premadasa Stadium.

Another highlight was Mohammad Sami’s second over of 17 deliveries, when he bowled seven wides and four no-balls to concede 22 runs in all.

BRIEF SCORES

Bangladesh

: 166 all out (K Mashud 54; S Ahmed 3/32, S Akhtar 2/33)

Pakistan: 167 for 4 (S Malik 48, Y Youhana 39)
