
JAMMU, Oct 19: A Pakistani infiltrator was killed and an Indian civilian injured in an exchange of fire between Pakistani and Indian troops along the international border here yesterday, a Border Security Force spokesman said today.
Fourteen Indian border outposts came under fire from across the border, soon after Pakistani rangers greeted BSF personnel and presented sweets to them on the occasion of Diwali at Octerie and Gullar, he said.
The spokesman said the BSF retaliated and the exchange of fire continued intermittently, adding Pakistani troops shelled Indian outposts at Samba, R S Pura, Akhnoor and Pallanwala sub-sectors.
Meanwhile, two militants were killed in an encounter with troops of the 25 Rashtriya Rifles in Thatri area of Doda district today, sources said, adding one of the militants was identified as Mustaq Ahmed.
Two AK-47 rifles and one machine gun were recovered from the site of the encounter, they added.
