CHANDIGARH, June 18: Inderpal Singh, 42, a well known Punjab athlete died in Ludhiana this morning after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Inderpal Singh was a former All India Inter-University and Railways shot put champion. He was now serving with the Railway Protection Force. His body was cremated in Jalandhar. Inderpal8217;s father Ishar Singh Deol, himself a former international shot putter, is the secretary of the Punjab Amateur Athletic Association.
