With India yet to bowl out the West Indies twice in a Test over the last month, skipper Rahul Dravid has finally stepped out to defend his young fast bowling attack saying that he was disappointed that it has not got the credit it deserves.
8220;If you look at Munaf Patel, Sreesanth, VRV Singh and even Irfan Pathan in the one Test match, they have bowled their hearts out and really bowled well. There is a lot of potential in the group and I feel sad and disappointed that people don8217;t give the fast bowlers the kind of credit they deserve,8221; said Dravid.
With Ajit Agarkar not picked, Zaheer Khan out of the equation, Ashish Nehra still to bounce back from injury and Irfan Pathan struggling for form, India have banked heavily on the young trio of Munaf, Sreesanth and VRV over the last three Tests. Together, the three have taken 19 wickets till the fourth Test, while spin veterans Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, and even Virender Sehwag, have combined to pack off 10 more.
8220;Look at the opposition fast bowlers who have a bit more experience than our guys. Our fast bowlers have outbowled them throughout the series, irrespective of the conditions, irrespective of the wickets. I think it is important to encourage these young boys,8221; said Dravid.
8220;You have got to realise that you have got some potential in your hand. It8217;s important to nurture and give them the encouragement when they do well and not always look at the number of wickets they have got,8221; said Dravid.
