The entire Congress led Opposition UDF in Kerala on Thursday staged a walkout in the Assembly alleging that the Government has 8216;sabotaged8217; the reclamation process of public encroached lands in Munnar 8220;to protect the local offices of CPIM and CPI in the hill-station8221;.

Raising the matter as a submission, K C Venugopal said with the ruling LDF asking the Government to recognise all title deeds approved by Land Assignment committee, it has virtually given approval to all the controversial pattayams issued by former Deputy Tasildhar K Raveendran, known as 8220;Raveendran Pattayam8221;.

This was with the prime objective of saving ruling party offices and tourist resorts 8216;constructed by CPIM and CPI8217; in Munnar, he said. The anti-encroachment drive in Munnar should be ended, he said.

Rejecting the UDF charge during the reply, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said the LDF Government was committed to recovering all encroached lands in the state. The Government would not budge an inch backward from this process and the Opposition was trying to create a smoke screen over the issue, he said.

The Government was of the view that title deeds issued with the due concurrence of Land Assignment Committee comprising members from all political parties was legal, he said, adding that Government also did not want to disturb the poor people with small holdings.
