One killed over SRD

July 15: A slum dweller was killed following an argument with the builder over allocation of flats under slum redevelopment scheme SRD at Parel last night. According to Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg Police, the deceased Santosh Sakharam Ahere 27 lived at Paramanand Wadi, Eknath Ghade Marg Parel which also came under the scheme and the work of constructing the buildings was taken up by Kishore Tarkar promoter.

Tarkar allegedly had differences with the residents over allocation of flats . Yesterday Tarkar along with his accomplices attacked Ahere with choppers, hockey sticks and knives. Ahere died on the spot.No arrests have been made so far and further probe is on.
