NEW DELHI, FEB 24: A ruling RJD activist was killed today and Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi8217;s brother Sadhu Yadav detained as sporadic violence marred partial repolling for Assembly elections in Bihar, while the similar exercise passed off peacefully in Manipur, Haryana and Orissa with an average turnout of 70 per cent in the four states.

In Bihar, where 43 people were killed in violence during three-phased elections to the 324-member state Assembly, RJD activist Shyam Babu Rai was shot dead in a clash with alleged BJP supporters at a polling station during repoll in Sonepur constituency of Saran district.

State Finance Minister Shanker Prasad Tekriwal survived an attempt on his life when unidentified gunmen fired at his car at Purushottam-Manhar village in Saharsa constituency.

The Chief Minister8217;s brother and member of the State Legislative Council, Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav, was detained at town police station in Gopalgunj under Section 151 CrPC in apprehension of breach of peace.

Peaceful repolling was held in 35 polling stations in Manipur, where nine people were killed during two-phased elections to the 90-member Assembly, with an 85 per cent voter turnout.

Repolling in six booths in Orissa and 23 in Haryana also passed off peacefully with a turnout of 62 and 75 per cent respectfully.
