Marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr saw a huge congregation thronging the city from various parts of the state. The main congregation was, however, held at Red Road, where people offered namaz. Prayers were also offered at the Nakhoda Masjid, Park Circus and Garden Reach areas of the city.

People were seen exchanging sweets and greetings with undaunted enthusiasm. 8220;This year, our message to the people was curbing terrorism. We asked our Muslim and Hindu brothers to come together and fight the dreaded menace that has spread across the country. Apart from terrorism, we also asked the people to fight against injustice,8221; said Maulana Fazlur Rahman of Imam Idain.

Tight security arrangements were made throughout the city today. According to the police, security was beefed up at mosques and other vulnerable areas of the city to avoid any untoward incident.
