On a roll

It's been a while since we bumped into this leggy model from the city. In fact, it8217;s been so long, we can8217;t really remember when! And that8217;s perhaps got much to do with the fact that all of us don8217;t watch that many South Indian flicks.

Wondering whatever happened to city model Jonita Doda? Well, our girl8217;s in action once again with a slew of projects

It8217;s been a while since we bumped into this leggy model from the city. In fact, it8217;s been so long, we can8217;t really remember when! And that8217;s perhaps got much to do with the fact that all of us don8217;t watch that many South Indian flicks. For Jonita Doda has been on a roll, quite literally, in the southern part of the country. 8220;I just wrapped up a Kannada film that8217;s due for release in November,8221; mentions Doda who flitted across to the small screen with a kitty of shows, the recent one being as a host for Sahara One8217;s 8216;Comedy Champions8217;. 8220;It was a good experience and I got to do a gamut of things but I think I am done with television for the moment,8221; admits Jonita who kick-started her modelling career in the city pretty early on. 8220;I was just out of school when I started modelling after winning many titles,8221; Jonita brushes us up. But down the years which also saw her step out as a choreographer, she decided to return to academics. 8220;That8217;s when I got busy finishing my studies and we didn8217;t get to meet,8221; smiles the model now turned full-time actor.

And work is what brings her home from Mumbai. 8220;I am currently shooting for a Punjabi film titled 8216;Chak Jawaana8217;,8221; informs Doda who is paired opposite singer-actor Gurdas Mann. 8220;My character is called Binny and it8217;s a nice youthful film with a message,8221; mentions the actor who was more thrilled to know when told she would be shooting on home turf. 8220;Since I have shifted my base to Mumbai, it8217;s always nice to come home. In fact I look for reasons,8221; laughs Jonita who has also signed on a Hindi film. 8220;Bollywood is where I want to be and frankly the shift to Mumbai hasn8217;t been that tough,8221; admits Jonita who goes on to add, 8220;Mumbai gives you your breathing space and lets you grow as an actor. But I always carry a chip on my shoulder for the fact that I am from Chandigarh. It8217;s a proud feeling.8221; We ditto that.
