Now, no plots from LDA, only highrises

From now on, the Lucknow Development Authority will not develop residential plots.

.

From now on, the Lucknow Development Authority LDA will not develop residential plots. It will only construct highrise apartments to accommodate the growing population of the state capital. It will also develop a railway overbridge from Sahara Sahar to

Gomti Nagar. The LDA Board approved these proposals on Monday.

LDA officials said the board has taken this decision because there were hundreds of plots in areas like Gomti Nagar, where construction has not been carried out even 20-25 years after allotments.

8220;Those who purchased the plots, did it for investment purpose only, they were not needy persons. If they genuinely need a house, they will purchase our flats that will ensure quality services,8221; said LDA Vice-Chairman Mukesh Kumar Meshram after the board8217;s meeting. He said the cost of flats in apartments developed by the LDA will be 40 per cent less than those developed by private builders.

8220;To ensure quality development, help of engineering institutions would be taken as third party. Even the allottees will be able to check the quality of construction,8221; he said.

In another decision, a four-lane 700-metre-long overbridge will be constructed to approach the Gomti Nagar Extension. The overbridge, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore, will start from the entrance gate of Sahara Sahar.

Meshram said as the overbridge will be in public interest, Sahara Sahar authorities have agreed to this proposal and an MoU will be signed between both parties soon.

To authorise the construction of a police chowki on Gomti embankment adjacent to the Ambedkar Memorial, the LDA Board has given approval to change the land use of 900-sq m area, from the road to public utilities and services. A 950-m stretch behind the police chowki will be developed as road and green area. Meshram said park and pathways will be developed there.

The board also decided to develop the 80-acre land of a regional park Smriti Upwan as Kanshiram Sanskritik Sthal, at a cost of Rs 90 crore 8212; to organise cultural programmes.

The LDA will charge an amount of Rs 50,000 for public functions. But in case of functions organised to observe national festivals, concession could be given, Meshram added.
