CHANDIGARH, Feb 15: More than seventy shuttlers are expected to vie for top honours in the men, women and veteran groups in the North Zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department badminton tournament which will commence here tomorrow at the Sector 42 Indoor Badminton Hall.

The defending champions among men, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Delhi are expected to repeat their last year’s performance. “We have a strong team and will win the title this year also,” said one of the members of the team.

Opinder Pal Singh and Rajiv Sharma of Delhi are among the best shuttlers in the fray in the men’s group.

Last year’s winner in the women’s section Uttar Pradesh have also arrived.Punjab were the winners in the veteran category.

The matches will be played on knock out basis.

Off the nine teams in the fray, seven have arrived at the venue. Two teams – Director of Audit Central Revenues, Delhi and AG Jammu and Kashmir are expected to reach here late tonight. Meanwhile Raman will speahead AG Haryana challenge in the meet.

Handball trials
Trials to select Chandiarh senior team for the forthcoming 27th national women handball championship to be held at Ropar from March 8 to 13, will be conducted on February 18, at DAV School-8 at 3 p.m.
