KHARAR, Nov 27: Residents of Mundi Kharar village under the Kharar municipal limits complain that have had no supply of drinking water for the last two weeks. With the tube-well supplying drinking water to the entire village, lying out of order since November 22, there has been an acute water scarcity. In the absence of a water tank, residents have been forced to fetch water from far. Though the issue has been taken up with the concerned officials time and again during the last two weeks, no action has been taken so far, the residents complain. The residents handed over a charter of demands to the executive officer of the Local Municipal Council here this morning.

MC executive officer Lachhman Singh Saini assured the residents that a water tanker will provide drinking water till the repair of tubewell motor. He also said the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board officials have been contacted for the early repair of tubewell motor. Meanwhile, the senior vice-president of the Kharar MC Preet Kanwal Singh expressed concern over the inadequate drinking water supply arrangements in parts of the township.
