Soon after Moushumi Chatterjee rejected the Congress offer to contest from the seat, former footballer and Padmashree awardee Chuni Goswami has turned down a similar proposal.
Chatterjee had refused as she felt she did not have much chances of winning. It was then that Congress approached Goswami with the same offer as North Kolkata has a large number of people who are supporters of the Mohun Bagan Club. And Goswami still has a huge fan following there.
However, Goswami turned down the proposal, saying, 8220;I have never understood the intricacies of politics. It won8217;t be wise for me to visit unknown terrains. Moreover, I am friendly with the leaders of all political parties.8217;8217;
