No real leads in Shivani murder yet

The police suspect that Shivani could have used the pan in self-defence and even managed to land a few blows on her assailants before he or they snatched it from her.

A senior police official says the CFSL report will establish whether the blood stains on the pan were Shivani8217;s or that of her assailants.

Finger prints have been lifted from the two glasses, in which Shivani probably served water to her visitors. Experts have also lifted fingerprints from the tea cups in the kitchen, cupboard in the bedroom and broken handle of thefrying pan. No fingerprints, however, have been found on the two kitchen knives with which Shivani was stabbed.

8220;The results from the fingerprint analyses will be available in a couple of days. This and the CFSL reports will probably clear some questions,8221; the official said.

The police have already started looking up MTNL records to ascertain the origin or destination of telephone calls made to and from Shivani8217;s house. The police have also sought the help of telecom authorities in UP to check up the calls made to and from Shivani8217;s parents8217; house in Ghaziabad, where she had been living for almost three months, till recently after her son was born.

Meanwhile, the Indian Journalists8217; Union IJU today expressed shock at the brutal murder of Shivani, and demanded that the government act fast to identify her killers. And journalists affiliated with the Press Club of India and based in Delhi said they will take out a protest march.
