SHILLONG, OCT 14: A new four-party coalition Ministry, comprising the United Democratic Party, BJP, Nationalist Congress Party and People’s Democratic Movement, headed by B B Lyngdoh of the UDP, was sworn in in Meghalaya today by Governor M M Jacob.

The Governor administered oath of office and secrecy to 12 new Ministers, of whom eight are of Cabinet rank and four Ministers of State.

Of the new Ministers, seven are drawn from the NCP, two are Independents who are associate members of the NCP, two are from the BJP and one from the PDM. Eighteen other ministers are all from the UDP to make it a 30-member Cabinet.

In the 60-member House, the UDP has 20, NCP 9, Congress 16, BJP, PDM and Hill State People’s Democratic Party three each, Garo National Council one and Independent five, of which three are associate members of the NCP.

The new Cabinet Ministers are : T H Rangad (BJP), Lotsing A Sangma, (NCP), Monindra Rava (NCP), Adolf Lu Hitler Marak (NCP), Admiral K Sangma (NCP), E D Marak (NCP), F A Khonglam and Kulart C Momin (both Independent and associate members of NCP).

The Ministers of State are: A L Hek (BJP), Beckster K Sangma (NCP), Brening K Sangma (NCP) and Cyprian Sangma (PDM).

Yesterday, Lyngdoh had dropped all Congress Ministers from his Government and informed the Governor, submitting a new list of ministers.
