
AMBALA, Nov 23: Dainik Jagran editor Narender Mohan was awarded Jayan Bharati Award 1999 here today. Instituted by the Prabhu Prem Ashram for excellence in the field of education, culture, art and journalism, the award was given at a function held at the ashram here today.
The temporal head of the Juna Peethaseen Swami Avdheshanand honoured Mohan by offering a shawl, momento with shriphal, a citation and cash prize of Rs 5,000. Mohan is the eighth recipient of the Jayan Bharati Award. The previous recipients include noted film producer Ramanand Sagar, journalist Kamal Kant Budhkar, actor Chander Prakash of Chanakya serial, Shanker Jadugar and Dr Pandya for medicine.
Speaking on the occasion, Narender Mohan emphasised the need for renaissance of the Indian culture. Swami Avdheshanand also spoke on the occasion. He claimed the ashram had launched several projects, involving the youth and women, for the unity and integrity of the country.
