Nanded, June 1: The Panch Piare (the five high priests) of Takht Sachkhand Gurudwara today declared gurudwara board president Sarder Sher Singh Fouji as `tankhaiya’ from the community for three days following his remarks over their decision against donating land to Nanded medical college.
A few days back the gurudwara board had taken a decision to donate a piece of land to the college. However, the panch piare put their foot down against the decision.
Board president Fouji had issued a statement to the local press that priests should not interfere in the board’s decision.
The panch piare held a meeting this morning at the takhat sahib residence of chief Jothedar Baba Kulwant Singhji and summoned Fouji before them, where he acknowledged to have made such a statement.
The panch piare then declared Fouji a `tankhiya’ for three days with a punishment of service in the shoe stall and akhand path.
Later, Faouji told reporters said it was his duty to obey the orders of the priests and would undergo the punishment from tomorrow.
He alleged that his rivals had put great pressure on the panch piare to make him a `tankhaiya’.
