Namdhari fate to be decided today

Rejected by the JDU and ignored by the BJP, former Speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly Inder Singh Namdhari is struggling to retain the Daltongunj Assembly seat in the bypoll to be held on Saturday. After his efforts to ride piggy-back on the NDA partners fell flat, he is contesting the polls as an Independent.

Namdhari is in a four-cornered contest with the BJP-backed JDU8217;s Neelu Mishra, Anil Chourasia of the All Jharkhand Students8217; Union AJSU and K N Tripathi of the Congress. The bypoll in Daltongunj was necessitated after Namdhari quit the JDU and resigned from the Assembly. A six-time winner from the seat since 1980, a loss can mean an eclipse in his career for Namdhari.
