MUMBAI, AUGUST 1: Principal Secretary Law and Judiciary Pratima Umarji today denied that she was transferred owing to the result of the court case against Bal Thackeray against the government.

8220;I was holding additional charge of Principal Secretary amp; Remembrancer of Legal Affairs, after the transfer on promotion of the then Secretary, S K Shah as High Court judge in September 1999. The High Court has only recently recommended the appointment of V G Munshi, District and Session Judge, Pune to the post of the Secretary amp; Remembrancer of Legal Affairs which is traditionally occupied by officers from the judicial side,8221; Umarji said while referring to a report in these columns on July 30.

The notification of appointment of Munshi was issued on July 24, 2000. He will be joining shortly, while she will continue to be in her substantive post of Principal Secretary, Law amp; Judiciary Legislation and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Umarji said.
