For writer Dolly Thakore, her computer is so much a part of her life that she says her den is her machine. Mornings are spent ensconced in front of the Pentium which in turn is tucked away in a corner of her cozy balcony.

Thakore wakes up before the birds do, around 4.00 am and till the sun comes out she stays in bed reading and making notes.

quot;I always read lying down. I guess after my computer I spend most time on my bed reading,quot; she laughs. After she is up and about, the morning is spent tapping away on the keyboard. quot;I share the computer with my son Quassar, so the afternoons are reserved for him,quot; she says.

Her son who is in St Xavier8217;s is working on a college play right now and demands that he not be disturbed while working. quot;So I finish my work in the morning and later in the day he monopolises the machine,quot; she says. For Thakore, the transition from direct longhand on paper to electronic writing was not so smooth, quot;I have overcome that now and except for my notes I do all my writing on thecomputer.quot;

In the evenings she is usually out for plays and performances over the city but the next morning she is lost to the world again. quot;Both my son and I are people who use the computer for hours and then there is no schedule left. Food, visitors, friends, everything is forgotten.quot;
