FEROZEPUR, Nov 13: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ferozepur Range H.S.Dhillon unfolded to media persons a dramatic filmi8217; style plot in his office here today by presenting Manjeet Singh 22 a mechanic who was thought to be kidnapped and murdered.

Manjeet Singh ran his workshop at Khabhays village falling under Jalalabad Police Station in Ferozepur district. The alleged kidnapping and murder8217; took place on the night of Oct 12 when blood was seen splatterd on his bed and around his workshop. His father, Surjan Singh, a poor blind farm hand then got a complaint lodged at P.S. Jalalabad following which an FIR was registered.

While unfolding the plot, the DIG said Manjeet Singh was frustrated because of the crude behaviour of his 19-year-old illiterate wife, Kuldip Kaur who was in the family way. He had reached such a point of desperation that he wanted to get rid of her. As he did not want to murder her, he cooked up the kidnapping-murder8217; plan, after which he would disappear from the village for three years. During this time, he thought his wife who would then be a widow,8217; would probably get married to another man. Thus, he would be free to marry a better woman who would care for his aged parents.

Working on these lines, he paid a medical practitioner to extract one bottle of his blood. On the night of Oct 12, he splattered this blood on his bed and around the workshop and then disappeared.

He then went to Azadpur in Delhi and got a job with a bus operator for a paltry sum of Rs 1,200 per month. After working for some time, he told his employer the entire story. His employer then advised him to return to his village. He then returned and surrendered to the police.

The DIG told media persons that a new case has now been registered against Manjeet Singh who would be lodged in police custody for interrogation. The first case will be withdrawn.
