He said the girl, who stayed in the women's wing of the remand home, had gone to the male wing to fetch water. On her way, Nanaware caught hold of her, slapped her, took her to a corner of the kitchen and raped her. The matter was reported to Bhausaheb Kadre, the District Women's Welfare Officer who lodged a complaint with the Dongri police.Nanaware was charged with sections 363, 367 and 368 of the IPC and has been sentenced to three, five and five years respectively. However the sentences will run concurrently.
