
Mega block on C Rly for maintenance works today
The Central Railway will be operating a mega block on up local trains between Vidyavihar and Byculla stations from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, November 1 to carry out maintenance works on the track. All up locals will be diverted on up fast lines between the two stations and will halt at all stations.
Passengers travelling on up local lines between Ghatkopar and Byculla are permitted to travel via Ghatkopar, Kurla, Dadar, Parel in both directions on the same tickets on November 1, a CR press release has announced.
Regional safety training course
The National Safety Council is organising a two-week regional training course on `Technological Risk Mitigation in Cities’ from November 2 to 13 at West End hotel with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre, Bangkok and Human Settlements Management Institute, New Delhi. The training course will have 23 participants from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand andIndia.
Serial on State’s famous persons
International Centre For Cultural Relations has launched a new television serial called Anolakhi Nakshtre to honour unsung heroes of Maharashtra. Directed by Rajan who had earlier made Pragati Kare Aamcha Maharashtra on DD 1 to commemorate 50 years of Indian independence, the show is being telecast over Mai Marathi on DD 1. The episodes on November 11th and 18th titled Saad Deti Himshikhare: Himalaya Calling look at the first team of Maharashtrians, led by Hrishikesh Yadhaw, to have scaled the Himalayas. Anolakhi Nakshtre telecast will follow every Wednesday at 6.00 pm.
MSEB says it has honoured WCL bills
The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) has stated that it owes only Rs 114.5 crore to the Western Coalfields Limited (Nagpur). Responding to a report in The Indian Express (Oct 23), an MSEB spokesman said that it is not a defaulter and has been paying the `undisputed’ coal bills regularly.
A press release from the board said the billingwas done by the coal companies depending upon both quantity and quality dispatched from the their collieries.
The MSEB however has accepted WCL claims on the quality and quantity of the coal consignments received at its power stations. The disputes which arose within this arrangement were settled later, the release clarifies.
Out of the disputed bills of Rs 659 crore, the MSEB has settled bills worth Rs 400 crore and only Rs 114.5 crore are to be paid to the WCL, it stated.
