Meet on liver diagnoses

  • The Indian Association For Study of the Liver has organised a two-day meet at Hotel Retreat on March 28 and 29. It will bring together experts to focus on current concepts and recent diagnosis and management of liver and biliary tracts. It will also provide a forum for clinical and basic scientists to present and discuss their work in oral presentations and posters.
  • Three hurt in Kandivli blast

  • Three children received minor injuries this afternoon when the cylindrical box of a flash gun used in ships exploded in a ground at Kandivli west.
  • According to police sources, the incident took place at 4 pm, when three children, Jeetu Suresh Haripati 12, Sanjay Rathod 11 and Vijay Pawar 10 were playing in the ground near Unique Apartments on Sarojani Naidu Road. The injured have been admitted to Jeevan Hospital at Kandivli. They are said to be out of danger. The investigations are on nab the culprits.

    Search on for killer watchman

  • NaviMumbai police have launched a manhunt for the watchman who had killed his three children on Thursday after his molestation attempt on a housewife was foiled.
  • Police sources said that Ramu D Yadav 38, who worked as a watchman in the Agrawal Vihar Cooperative Housing Society at Kopar Khairane, had stabbed his three children Ajay 6, Aruna 12 and Arti 9 to death and has been absconding since.

    Meet on security situation in state

  • The internal security situation in Maharashtra and the army8217;s proposed response to situations likely to be confronted with during civil and other disturbances, were analysed at a seminar held in the city today. The annual seminar, the only of its kind in the state, is intended to promote co-operation and understanding between various agencies of the state and the army. It aims at improving the state of the readiness of the army in providing aid to the civil administration in exceptional emergencies.
