Victor awards from V Care

V Care, an emotional support group for cancer patients and their families, invites nominations for the Victor Awards8217; to be presented at the Cancer Survivor8217;s Day celebrations on February 12, 2000.

Entries should describe the patient8217;s cancer history in 400-500 words, preferably in Hindi or English with details of treatment, adversities faced and overcome, what the patient is doing at present, and why his or her life is worthy of emulation.

A panel of judges will select three persons who have shown exemplary courage in facing cancer and have continued to live full lives despite all odds.Entries should include a photograph of the person being nominated and his or her address and telephone number. The person sending in the nomination may please include his or her name, telephone number and address. The nominee preferably should be informed that he or she is being nominated.

Nominations can be sent either by cancer survivors themselves or by someone known to them. Thosewho have applied earlier are also eligible.

Ashish Kumar Singh, a senior IAS officer has recently taken over as the Joint Managing Director of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Limited MTDC.

An IAS of the Kerala cadre, Singh joined the civil service in 1989 and has held several posts like secretary of District Tourism Promotion Council, Kerala, additional director of tourism, Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, director of Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies, and managing director of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, and district magistrate and collector, Gadhchiroli, Maharashtra.

Talent search by Edit Institute

The Edit Institute has announced their second nationwideCreative Talent Search Scholarship programme to aid students desirous of having a career in computer graphics, animation, multimedia and internet. The scholarship examination will be a Creative Quotient test conducted in three parts which will evaluate the participant8217;s creative faculty. The programme will be carried out at all the centres of the institute. Those interested can register their names at any of the eleven centres run by the Computer Art Education India in Mumbai before August 8. The examination will be conducted on August 10 and 11.
