Custody for music piracy
Owner of Sneh Sagar Sargam at Heera Panna, Tardeo, Satish Talreja, has been remanded to 15 days police custody for allegedly storing pirated music compact discs. Acting on a tip-off that a Maruti Esteem owned by Talreja was being used to store pirated CDs, Tardeo police and officials of the Indian Music Industry IMI searched his vehicle and seized 81 pirated CDs from it.Additional Sessions Judge, A S Aguiar, recently rejected Talreja8217;s anticipatory bail application since several copyright infringement cases have been registered against him. Thus custodial interrogation of the accused had become necessary, he ruled.
In an official press statement today, the IMI says Talreja8217;s arrest should serve as a warning to others indulging in music piracy.
