AIR requires news readers

The News Unit of All India Radio, Mumbai requires casual news readers-cum-translators for its regional Marathi news bulletins and for the external service Gujarati news bulletins.

The applicants should be proficient in Marathi or Gujarati, graduates in any discipline and less than 40 years of age. Those interested should send their applications on plain paper to the Joint Director, Regional News Unit, All India Radio, Backbay Reclamation, Mumbai 400020 with full biodata educational qualifications, language known, permanent home address/contact telephone number by April 9. A written test will be held on April 18, followed by a voice test. The date for audition will be intimated to the eligible applicants.

Dandavate to be felicitated

The Professor Madhu Dandavate Gaurav Samiti has organised a felicitation ceremony of veteran freedom fighter and the former union finance minister, Professor Madhu Dandavate on May 16 to celebrate his birthday. The Samiti8217;schairperson, Mrinal Gore, has appealed to his admirers and friends to donate generously to the felicitation fund which is to be handed over to the socialist leader. One killed in wall collapse

One labourer died and two were injured when a slab of Nanubhai Mansion, in Fort, near the University of Mumbai, collapsed while repair work was on. The deceased labourer was trapped under the slab for over 30 minutes before the firemen rescued him, fire control authorities informed. The injured have been admitted to St George hospital. Marathi writer to be honouredn NOTED Marathi writer and poetess, Shirish Pai, who introduced the Japanese Haiku poetry into Marathi, has been selected for this year8217;s Shreemati Sarswatibai Chogle Sahityika Award. The award consists of Rs 5,001 anda certificate of honour.
