Jt Chief Fire Officer retires

Joint Chief Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Brigade M G Sirkhot retired on December 1 after 35 years of service.

Sirkhot not only worked in all branches of the brigade, but has also contributed towards the development of the brigade. He is a recipient of the Fire Service Medal awarded by the President of India. A good fire fighter with presence of mind in emergencies has earned him three extraordinary bravery and gallantry medals, including one for his fire fighting and rescue work during the communal riots in Mumbai in 1992 and 1993.

Trust awards scholarships

The Prasad Chikitsa Charitable Trust of Ganeshpuri has decided to award 50 full scholarships and 96 awards-in-kind to students in the Tansa Valley.

The scholarship programme covers the entire duration of the students’ course of study as well as food and travelling expenses. The scholarship programme is one of the many charitable programmes sponsored by Prasad Chikitsa in the Tansa Valley.

Ayyappapooja at Borivli

An Ayyappa Pooja was performed by devotees at Good Heaven Society at Thakur complex near Borivli on Saturday. The function, organised by Rajan Nambiar, the general public of Thakur complex and the Malad Ayyappa Seva Sangam was the first of its kind in Thakur complex. It began with a Ganapathi Homam in the morning followed by a bhajan by the Ayyappa Bhakti Sangam, Kalwe.

Devotees offered prayers to Lord Ayyappa adorned in the traditional Sabarimala style.
