MSEB chief engineer for Kalyan S V Dudgikar took over as chief engineer (Konkan zone) of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), Kalyan, on Nov 10 from S P Warke. Dudgikar was superintending engineer for the Kolhapur circle. He has had experience in the operation and maintenance of sub stations and power lines/distribution systems.Dharna against Haji Ali flyover A dharna has been organised by the Gamdevi Nana Chowk Tardeo Flyover Action Committee on Monday at 9.30 am to protest the proposed flyover from Wilson College to Haji Ali. The 3.5 km long flyover will cause noise and air pollution for residents of the area, say residents.Nature club frees camels The Asmant Nature Club, Dombivli, rescued two camels which were illegally being used for joyrides. The activists had spotted the camels in the MIDC area in Dombivli on Sunday evening. The two keepers of the camels were handed over to the police. The use of camels for joyrides violates a 1996 Bombay HighCourt directive which bans the use of the animals within municipal limits.Maritime conference The Institute of Marine Engineers, India, is organising its four-yearly International Maritime Conference between Nov 19 and 21.
