CR officers threaten stir

Officers affiliated to the Central Railway Promotee Officers’ Association have threatened to go on a relay fast from July 27 if their demands for parity in pay and other issues are not met. The association had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Central Railway’s general manager, K B Sankaran, last month highlighting the employees’ problems.

BCL’s scholarship scheme

Journalist elected to MBMC

The Sanj Loksatta’ newspaper’s Bhayander correspondent, Asif Shaikh, has been elected councillor of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Council (MBMC) in the polls held on June 11. Sheikh is the youngest councillor in the MBMC. He defeated his nearest candidate, ex-sarpanch and former councillor Shashikant Shah, by one vote.

Indo-Sri Lankan photoexhibition

The Sri Lankan Consulate, in collaboration with the Indo-Sri Lanka Society, is organising a three-day photography exhibition titled `Images of Sri Lanka and India’ from July 10 to commemorate 50 years of independence of India and Sri Lanka. The exhibition will be inaugurated by former sheriff Jehangir K Nicholson at the Y B Chavan Centre on July nine. The exhibition aims to create awareness on recent developments in the two nations and promote goodwill and friendship between them, said a press release.
