
Scholarships for the arts
The central government is providing 300 scholarships of Rs 200 each for music, dance, theatre, painting, sculpture to students born between July 1, 1986 and June 30, 1990. Applications will be available at Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi and at the regional office, Ist floor, AP Film Development Corporation Complex, 10-2-1, AC Gardens, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
Blood donation at Bhandup
Bhandup Durgotsav Samiti will hold a blood donation camp and free medical check-up on October 18 and 19 at Trimurti Natya Mandir, Sardar Pratap Singh Industrial Estate, L B S Marg, Bhandup W as part of Durga puja celebrations.
Concert at new auditorium
A 300-Seat auditorium readied by the Mysore Association, a 73-year-old Matunga-based charitable trust, will be inaugurated by Governor Dr P C Alexander, on October 16 at 6 pm. The inauguration will be followed by Carnatic vocals by R K Srikantan supported by R S Ramakantha.

Classes for women
The Tata Council for Community Initiatives and the Navjeet Community Health Centre have set up a project at Bandra to empower women to generate their own income by organising classes for them in tailoring, handicrafts and marketing. The project holds classes thrice a week.
Mahabharata in 14 volumes
A 14-volume Mahabharata in the Amar Chitra Katha series will be released on October 15 at Patkar Hall, SNDT campus, New Marine Lines by Governor P C Alexander. This is the first time that a 1,400-page title has been published in comic form.
