Kalyan bus fares
The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport KDMT plans to raise an additional Rs 8 lakh by incrasing bus fares by 50 per cent. The decision, taken by the committee on Saturday, will come up for ratification by the civic General Body on November 10. The decision was, however, opposed by BJP and Congress corporators, with the former pointing out that it would place bus fares at par with autorickshaw fares, which charge Rs 2 per seat for the first 3.5 km.

State govt pensioners
State government pensioners, who cannot present themselves before the authorities concerned, are required to furnish their life certificates issued either by the gazetted officer, post-master or a bank manager. Failure to submit the certificate may delay payment of pension from December 1999.

Those drawing pension through banks have also been requested to approach their respective branch managers on or after November 1 to enable them to furnish the life certificate to the respective Pay and AccountsOffice.

A B Corp case hearing today
An application by Canara Bank seeking attachment of actor Amitabh Bachchan8217;s bungalow in Juhu will come up for hearing before the Debt Recovery Tribunal on Monday. The bank, it its application before the Debt Recovery Tribunal for Maharashtra and Goa has alleged that A B Corp Limited, which is owned by the actor, had failed to pay Rs 10 crore in dues.

The bank has pleaded that the market value of the bungalow is worth Rs 15 crore. The application prays for appointment of a court commissioner in respect of the bungalow and an order restraining the defendants from disposing of this property or creating rights therein.
