VADODARA, Feb 3: The M S University election imbroglio has put on hold the fate of inter-faculty activities including quiz, debates, music show and fun fair, which may not be held this year.

Funds allocated for the union activities will also not be given to students as there is no elected representative. Talking to Express Newsline, Returning officer, N M Bhatt said, 8220;The amount allocated for these activities will not be advanced to anyone as the previous union8217;s term had expired.8221;

Former university general secretary, Prakash Verma said, 8220;As per the Senate resolution las year, if there were no elections, former union leaders could continue in the Senate. Verma claimed that as per the resolution the previous union would be eligible to hold these elections. He, however, added that the union leaders could continue their activities at the faculty-level as they had a separate budget.

8220;A fee is collected for faculty activities and this amount is diverted for the activities of the union,8221; Bhatt said, adding students wanting to conduct such activities should approach the union president for the university could organise them. Bhatt said moreover, as most of the activities were conducted under the campus diversity programme and hence there was no need to hold separate activities.
