Chennai, May 8: Anhettige Suresh Asanka Perera said he was thrilled on being picked to play for Sri Lanka in its coming three-Test series tour of New Zealand.

The 20-year-old medium pace bowler, undergoing training at the MRF Pace Foundation here, credits his selection to the training that he has had under the foundation chief coach T A Shekhar and the legendary Australian speedster Dennis Lillee.

When his reaction was sought on his inclusion, Perera said, 8220;I am thrilled to have been chosen to play for my country. I was picked as one of the potential bowlers in November last by Shekhar and had the benefit of training under both Lillee and Shekhar in the last over two months.8221;

Perera,who is looking forward to tour New Zealand, is to leave for Colombo on Sunday or Monday.The tour begins on May 27.
