
Various MPs cutting across party lines have demanded a high-level inquiry into corruption in Asia8217;s largest open cast coal mines, Dipka-Gevra in Chattisgarh. Today in Rajya Sabha, RJD MP Motiur Rahman raised the issue in zero hour asked the Minister, Coal, Shibu Soren to take necessary steps. Other MPs associated themselves with him.
The monopoly of one company in the area, the pilferage of coal and the helplessness of the Coal India subsidiary South Eastern Coal Limited SECL, as detailed in the report by the Chief Vigilance Officer was first reported in The Indian Express on August 20.
Speaking during Zero Hour, Rahman alleged 8220;a private company called Aryan was registering fake Ex-Servicemen companies and swindling crores of rupees8217;8217;. He said there was no genuine ex serviceman in these companies and nobody else was allowed to fill tenders for the job.

A group of MPs also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted a letter to him explaining the scam and also demanding immediate inquiry.
