MUMBAI, February 4: The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has served show cause notices on two members of the AICC from the state for alleged anti-party activities.According to MPCC general secretary Gurunath Kulkarni, the two members Kripashankar Singh and Rajiv Chavan chose to go directly to the press rather than air their grievances about the tie-up with the SP and the RPI within the party forum. "They have attempted to deliberately create the impression of disunity when the fact is that the AICC, the CWC and the Cong chief have all endorsed the seat adjustments with the two parties," Kulkarni said. "We have readied our show cause notice but the final action can only be taken by the CWC since both are members of the AICC," Kulkarni said.Meanwhile, Chavan today expressed outrage at reports that he was all slated to join BJP after a meeting with CM Manohar Joshi and BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan this morning. "I met the CM to seek stay on a project which has been undertaken by the youthCongress," he said. "Moreover, there is nothing wrong in having friends in other parties. I might be unhappy with the way things are going in the Congress but that does not mean that I will quit to join the BJP," he said.Singh was unavailable for comment. The notice creates a piquant situation for all three parties. While Singh is himself a general secretary of the MPCC, both he and Chavan are perceived as very close to Sitaram Kesri.
