Motormen plan strike, Railways calls it illegal

I do not think their demands are genuine,8221; said a senior official on condition of anonymity.

Deepak Gandhi, president of Mumbai suburban passenger association said, 8220;The duty hours of the motormen are between three to six hours. As per rule, they should report for 8 hours. As more trains will come, their duty hours will be increased. If there is a vacancy, the administration will fill it.8221;

Sunil Gurav, Secretary of WR motormen association said, 8220;We met the Regional Labour commissioner and got a positive response as far as demands related to the railway board are concerned. But our other demands may be fulfilled if the DRM wants to. Our preparations for a hunger strike are on. We are waiting for some positive response from the DRM office. But we will run the train without having food.8221;
