More, Lad rescue Phadkar XI

Swapil More ended the day within striking distance of becoming the first batsman to score a century in the four-day format of the Mumbai Cricket Association MCA Sportstar Trophy under-19 selection trial tournament on Wednesday.

He finished the day unbeaten on 81 for Dattu Phadkar XI in their match against Vijay Manjrekar XI at Fort Vijay, Azad Maidan.

Coming into bat at No 6 with his team in a spot of bother at 73 for 4, More displayed immense concentration for over three hours in his innings which included seven fours.

With good support from Siddhesh Lad who scored 59, Phadkar XI recovered to score 237 for 5 at stumps on the second day of the match. Earlier, Manjrekar XI was bowled out for 274. Rahil Shaikh had missed his century by 11 runs for Manjrekar XI on Tuesday.

The Tendulkar name shone brightly at the Elf-Vengsarkar CA in Oval Maidan, as Sachin8217;s nephew Rohan, who plays in the team as a batsman, picked up three quick wickets in four overs.

New-ball operators Anuj Vakil and Prathamesh Dake did a bulk of the damage earlier splitting four wickets for Vijay Merchant XI.
