
NEW DELHI, August 5: Striker Samson scored the all-important goal in the 14th minute for Moonlight who defeated Tarun Sangha 1-0 in the rain-marred DSA-SAIL Senior Division league match at Ambedkar Stadium here today. The win helped Moonlight qualify for the super league.
The victory also enabled Moonlight to earn full three points and take their tally to 15 from 10 matches. Teams faced a lot of difficulties because of the slushy conditions of the ground.
The second match scheduled for the day, between Collegians and Simla Youngs was abandoned after the referee declared the ground unfit for play due to heavy rain. The match will now be played on August 9 at the Nehru Stadium.
At the Nehru Stadium this evening, Indian Air Force (New Delhi) earned a walkover from South India who failed to turn up. IAF have taken their points tally to 23 from 10 matches, as a result.
Garhwal Heroes will take on Delhi Cantonment at the Nehru Stadium (5 pm) on Friday.
