Legislator Atnasio Monserrate on Tuesday decided to quit from the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) after other leaders opposed his idea to merge with the ruling Congress in Goa. Monserrate will also resign from the House and face fresh elections on a Congress ticket. “Since the Congress High Command has assured me of my constituency, I am willing to join the party and give stability to the Kamat Government,” Monserrate said.
