Brakes of school bus fail, 5 hurt
Five persons, including three school-going girls, were injured when a school bus dashed against the wall of Kubera Park building at Hadapsar on Pune-Solapur road on Tuesday morning.
The brakes of the bus carrying over a dozen students of Dastur School from Kondhwa, failed near the octroi post.
A major mishap was averted as the driver, Jyotiram Manohar Mandalik 21, steered the vehicle off the road. The bus halted after hitting the wall of the building, according to the police.
Mandalik, the bus cleaner Vitthal Ganapat More and three students occupying the front seats were seriously injured.
One killed
Nagraj Shetty 19 from Sahavas Housing Society in Karvenagar was killed on the spot and Pravin Ramji Sakria 26 was seriously injured when their motorbike skid and dashed against a divider on Karve Road near the Vimlabai Garware School on Tuesday.
