Sivakasi constituency witnessed fireworks when MDMK candidate for Sivakasi Lok Sabha constituency Sippiparai Ravichandran and Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Inbathamizhan crossed paths at Venkatachalapuram village. While Ravichandram claims the Minister shot at and wounded him, the latter claims he was attacked by an armed mob led by Ravichandran. The Minister has been admitted to hospital.
Ravichandran said he was driving from Virudhunagar to Sattur when he noticed Inbathamizhan8217;s car chasing his vehicle. 8216;8216;Inbathamizhan caught up with us and waylaid my car. As soon as I got off the car, the Minister started firing indiscriminately. I dodged the bullets and ran for my life, but one of them grazed my shoulder and another hit my driver,8217;8217; he said. Inbathamizhan, however, said a mob of more than 100 people, led by Ravichandran, blocked his vehicle on the Virudhunagar-Sattur road and tried to assault him.
