CHANDIGARH, JAN 15: A memorial is proposed to be erected at Kurukshetra in memory of former prime minister Gulzari Lal Nanda. The memorial would be constructed adjacent to the sacred Brahm Sarovar at Kurukshetra in a four acre area and will also house a library and research complex.The project is expected to cost Rs 3.5 crore and the Haryana Government has proposed to spend a crore of rupees for the project. The research wing would specialise in studies in labour relations, rural planning, Gandhian thought and corruption-free polity. It will also have a memorial hall depicting the life and times of the late leader.Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal stated this on Thursday at the meeting of the national committee constituted to celebrate the birth centenary of the late prime minister. The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.The Haryana Chief Minister indicated that the memorial would be conceived in a traditional Indian architectural style. Bansi Lal urged that theconcluding function of the centenary celebrations of the late Gulzari Lal Nanda should be held at Kurukshetra on July four next.
