Mehbooba, Sonia talk on Qazi issue

PDP sources on Monday said party chief Mehbooba Mufti and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had detailed discussions on the situation arising out of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad divesting Qazi Afzal of the Forest portfolio. The discussions took place on board a flight when the two leaders were on their way to Delhi after attending a women8217;s seminar here.

8220;The Congress high command will prevail upon Azad and we hope Qazi will be back in the Cabinet in a day or two,8221; they said.

After the Chief Minister had divested Qazi of the ministry without consulting the PDP, the latter had resigned. The resignation was, however, not accepted by the Chief Minister.
