
CHANDIGARH, Nov 23: To facilitate smooth functioning of the Municipal Corporation, mayor Gian Chand Gupta today sought the cooperation of fellow councillors, both from the party and opposition.
In separate meetings held with the councillors, the mayor sought their help in not stalling the functioning of the MC, where certain decisions in public interest are required to be taken.
While today8217;s meetings included those with the party councillors and opposition councillors separately, the mayor would also hold a meeting with the nominated councillors tomorrow.
The mayor also appealed to the opposition councillors to lodge their protests in a rightful way and not create a scene during the meetings which made way for adjournments without any business. While BJP8217;s expelled councillor Om Parkash Goyal was among the BJP, SAD councillors in today8217;s meeting, the opposition councillors who attended the meeting included Satinder Dhawan, Raj Kumar Goel and Kamlesh.
These meetings were held in view of the recent adjournments of the meetings of the 29-member House without transacting any business, which affected the MC functioning. Certain important decisions were also pending before such meetings awaiting a final decision.
Meanwhile, the mayor would also hold another meeting of the BJP, SAD councillors to discuss the agenda for the next meeting of the House, to avoid any uncomfortable situation during the meeting of the House and to weed out any misunderstanding within the party.
