
KHARAR, Sept 22: A 25-year-old married woman of Chuharmajra village was allegedly raped at her house in the village, about 12 km from here, by a youth today. She was taken to Kharar Civil Hospital from where she was referred to PGI, Chandigarh, in a critical condition. The alleged rapist also threatened the victim8217;s husband, who is a labourer, with dire consequences.
The victim is the mother of two daughters, aged five years and one year, and a two-and-a-half-year-old son. The victim8217;s husband said the incident occurred at 2 p.m. when he was away at farm. When he returned home at 3 p.m, his wife was crying and her salwar was spotted with blood. She told him that a village youth, Jaggi, after allegedly raping her, harmed her private parts which were bleeding profusely.
The victim8217;s husband alleged that no policeman had visited either his house or the Civil Hospital after he lodged a complaint at Majit police post. Kharar SHO Rajinder Singh Sohal said a police officer had been sent to record the victim8217;s statement, after which legal action would be taken against the accused. Dr Maninderjit Kaur, who was attending on the victim, said the rape could be confirmed only after medical examination to be conducted at PGI, Chandigarh.
