CHANDIGARH, Sept 9: Manish Srivastva and Anil Sharma comfortably won their open snooker semifinal league encounters in the ongoing YMCA Open billiards and snooker tournament at the YMCA Hall in Sector 11. Manish beat AS Banipal 47-20, 50-24, 60-12 while Anil scored an impressive 60-14, 72-30, 53-44 win over Sunny Bhalla.

In the Manish-Benipal tie, the former played an attacking game and never allowed his rival to gain the upper hand. The margin of victory could have been much bigger had Manish not missed easy shots to hit big breaks.

AS Benipal, however, scored win over Rajeev Bhardwaj 259-230 in the handicap billiards. Anil Sharma also beat B Khurana 316-276, in the same event.

Anil Sharma in his match against Sunny Bhalla displayed fine cue ball control to outclass his opponent who fumbled at crucial junctures.

Deepak Goel defeated Kakar 455-263 in the open billiards, to keep his hopes alive for the title.

Anil Sharma entered the open billiards final by defeating Sameer Bhalla 385-360, in a close encounter which lasted for an hour.

In another snooker league match, Sunnay Bhalla beat AS Benipal 50-55, 62-36, 58-45, 48-33 and Benipal also lost to Anil Sharma 33-55, 18-65, 48-59.
